The gate at the entrance to the Nursery Bottom’s Forest Service’s Cheat Ranger offices is closed and a sign was hung stating the offices are closed until Congress restores funding.

Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge’s facebook page says  “Due to a lapse of government funding, this account will not be active until further notice.”   The recording on their answering machine says that the offices will remain closed and all activities are canceled until further notice. Dolly Sods Wilderness area, Red Creek Campground is closed as well.
CNN statistics say most of the country’s 3.3 million federal government workers were deemed “essential” so they will keep working. But more than 800,000 government employees will sit at home. The last U.S. government shutdown was in 1995 and lasted 21 days
