“People in Thomas will probably have a rate increase, but it shouldn’t affect the people in Davis,” Tomson said.

Davis Mayor and member of the Blackwater PSD Board Al Tomson announced Wednesday, February 12th at the Davis Town Council Meeting that the Blackwater PSD is seeking to incorporate the Town of Davis and City of Thomas into the Public Service District as soon as possible.  “The Blackwater PSD, we’re looking to bring Davis and Thomas into the Blackwater PSD as soon as we can,” Tomson said.

While Tomson did not give a deadline for the incorporation of the municipalities into the PSD, he did say that the PSD has been looking at what the rates would be for the customers.  “We’re looking at what the rates might be for the consumers, to the customers” Tomson said.  “And I’m happy to say the Davis rates will probably stay and probably become the Blackwater PSD rates.”

While the Davis rates are anticipated to remain the same, Tomson said that customers in Davis could anticipate a rate increase, though he did not provide a reason as to why there would be the increase at the meeting.  “People in Thomas will probably have a rate increase,” Tomson said.  “But it shouldn’t affect the people in Davis.”

The Parsons Advocate will be on hand at the next Blackwater PSD meeting for any updates on the story.
