Traffic travelling between Parsons and Elkins is now moving a bit smoother soon, thanks to an announcement by the West Virginia Division of Highways.
The Division announced July 30th that work on the Roaring Run Bridge over U.S. 219 (Seneca Trail) was completed ahead of schedule. Work on the project was completed on Wednesday, July 30th, according to the Division of Highways.
Work on the bridge located 2.7 miles north of the Randolph County line and and ending one mile south of County Route 219/10 (Moore Station Road) had been causing intermittent closures of U.S. 219 since July 21st of up to 40 minutes for overhead construction of the bridge.
Special accommodation was made for emergency vehicles and school buses only. All other motorists were advised to plan accordingly or use alternate routes.
The Division of Highways in August of 2024, announced bidding on the the Kerens to Parsons section of Corridor H that encompasses the bridge project. The Roaring Run Bridge Project was announced to have a $77 million contract awarded to Triton Construction for completion of the bridge.
The bridge spans 1,740 feet with both horizontal and vertical curves and is approximately a third of a mile long.
At the time of bidding announcement in 2024, then Governor Justice said, “Getting the Roaring Run Bridge project off the ground is just another piece of the puzzle for Corridor H,” Gov. Justice said. “This final piece for the Kerens to Parsons section is a massive milestone in our ultimate goal of finishing this corridor. These announcements bring us closer to running through the finish line on Corridor H. I’ve said it over and over again, but Corridor H is the most important project for West Virginia. Celebrating these days feels amazing, and when we finally say that Corridor H is finished, it will be a historic day for West Virginia.”
