Brothers involved in dispute over a property/boundary line ended with one brother dead and the other in jail.
In a press release Tucker County Sheriff J.E. Kopec stated, “On Monday, April 10, 2023 at approximately 1244 hours, a call came in to the Tucker County 911 in reference to a shooting. Through investigation it was learned that the suspect; Robert Lee Tennant, shot and killed his brother the victim; Edward Tennant on Smoke House Road in Saint George. The shooting was over a boundary line/land property dispute that had been ongoing.
The suspect has been charged with First Degree Murder due to the circumstances of the shooting. The investigation is being handled by the Tucker County Sheriff’s Department and assisted by the West Virginia State Police Parsons Detachment and the Parsons Police Department.”
During questioning officers asked Tennant if he checked on his brother after he was shot, Tennant allegedly stated “No”. When asked if he was sorry, he said “No, I got the monkey off my shoulder.” Tennant also stated that ‘he had been planning since Saturday to kill his brother.’
Tennant is in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail, charged with Murder in the First Degree. At the time of this writing the jail website shows no bond.
