Petersburg, W.Va. (April 14, 2023) — Grant County Bank is pleased to announce the funding of a lighted helipad in collaboration with the North Fork Ruritan Club located in Cabins, West Virginia.

Mikayla Goldizen, North Fork Ruritan Club Secretary, reached out to Grant County Bank for help, stating, “We believe the helipad would make it easier and safer for ambulances and helicopters to transport injured patients in our community.”

North Fork Ruritan Club generously supplied the location for the helipad, and it will be situated near Dolly Sods Wilderness area, Seneca Rocks, Harman’s Cottages, the Redman Trail, the North Mountain Trail, and Smoke Hole Caverns. With the rise of tourism to the area during this time, this helipad project will benefit both locals and tourists alike when an injury arises.

Jordan Long, Vice President of Seneca Rocks Volunteer Fire Department, says, “By having the lighted helipad, both the personnel on the ground and in the personnel in the air would be able to do their duties in a safer manner.”

Plans are currently in the works for the helipad. Upon completion the helipad will be 60 feet long by 60 feet wide.

“We are pleased to be able to assist the North Fork Ruritan Club with this project that will improve the health and safety of residents, visitors, and first responders,” says George Ford, President and CEO of Grant County Bank.
