Mountain Laurel’s Montessori Learning Center.
Enrollment is now open at Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative for the 2026-2027 program year. Mountain Laurel’s Montessori Learning Center provides Montessori-inspired child care for children 3-5 years of age and provides a microschool learning opportunity for school aged children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Following the Montessori method, classrooms are organized in three-year cycles, which adapts the learning environment to support development at each stage. Participants at the Montessori Learning Center can learn from and care for one another. Trained Montessori Guides observe participants and deliver lessons based on an individually paced curriculum. The curriculum, taught with grace and courtesy, includes the following areas of learning: practical life, reading, writing, math, science, and cultural studies, while nurturing a love of learning and respect for inclusivity and community involvement. Art, music, outside play, and a community garden are also part of the well-rounded curriculum. Mountain Laurel staff believe that when children learn to care for one another, care for shared materials, and resolve conflicts through respectful dialogue, they build the internal capacity to learn, grow, and thrive in today’s world.
MLLC’s Montessori Learning Center is licensed by WV Department of Human Services as a child care center and is recognized by the WV Secretary of State as a microschool. Financial assistance is available for eligible families through MountainHeart, the Hope Scholarship, in-house fee assistance, and sibling discounts. The Learning Center currently operates throughout the school year Monday through Thursday. Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. Class sizes are small and space is limited!
