PARSONS – A local group is offering a Lenten Fish Dinner each Friday from Ash Wednesday until Easter. The Knights of Columbus Council 2010 said the fish fry is their biggest fundraiser of the year, and past Grand Knight Jerome “Butch” DiBacco Jr. said the turnout for each Friday has been great at the Parsons location.
“We serve the meals at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 221 Water St. in Parsons from 4 to 6 p.m. and in Thomas at the St. Thomas Center,” DiBacco said. “The meal is available for take-out or eat-in at both locations.”
DiBacco said the meal includes an 8 ounce piece of deep fried Pollock, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, green beans, fruit and a roll.
“The money we raise goes to charitable causes including trips for the youth of the parish,” DiBacco said. “The youth come to the dinners and help us serve.”
DiBacco said they have had wonderful help preparing the meals.
“It’s a great group of about 7 to 8 guys that help prepare the dinners,” DiBacco said. “We fry the fish in Parsons and send the meals up to Thomas.”
DiBacco said he hopes folks will come out and help support the Knights of Columbus effort.
“The Lenten Fish Fry is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” DiBacco said. “We also have a pork sausage sandwich sale during Mountaineer Days.”
The St. Thomas Center is located at 324 Brown St. in Thomas.
