Lady Mt. Lions Softball Team gets first win in sectional game

CAMP KIDD – The Tucker County High School Softball Team ended their regular season at home against Southern for a double header. The Lady Mt. Lions dropped the first game 10-2 and fell in the second game 12-1.
In the first contest Tucker County was led by Lindsey Herron as she went 2 for 2 in the contest collecting 2 singles. Cheyenne Phillips also collected a hit in the game and also scored. Melanie Adams also crossed the plate to score for Tucker County. Southern went on to win the game 10-2.
The three Seniors on this year’s team were honored before the second game. These Seniors are also follows: Cheyenne Phillips, Abbey Eye, Lindsey Herron and Mary Pennington.
In the second contest the offense continued to struggle for Tucker County as they managed just 4 hits and scored only 1 run in the game. Dominique Meadows, McKinley Murphy, Abbey Eye and Sophia Ricottilli collected 1 hit each for Tucker County. Eye also scored the lone run for the Lady Mt. Lions as they fell in the contest 12-1.

CAMP KIDD – The Lady Mt. Lions played as the visiting team at Camp Kidd against Tygarts Valley in a double header Sectional on Saturday May 7th.
In the first contest Tucker County managed just 5 hits, but scored 13 runs as Tygarts Valley walked the Lady Mt. Lions 15 times. The Lady Bulldogs collected 12 hits and scored 21 runs to win the first contest 21-13. Gabby Zais, Camryn Cummings, Melanie Adams, McKinley Murphy and Cheyenne Phillips had 1 hit each. Zais and Cummings each collected a double on their hits.
In the second contest the Lady Mt. Lions got the bats going and never stopped as they collected their first win of the season with a 25-10 win over the Lady Bulldogs. Tucker County had 13 hits and drew 18 walks and stole 17 bases in the victory. Melanie Adams got the win on the mound for the Lady Mt. Lions as she gave up just 6 hits and walked just 7. McKinley Murphy and Adams were 2-3 at the plate, Gabby Zais and Dominique Meadows were 2-4 from the plate, Lindsey Herron was 2-5 from the plate. Camryn Cummings, Cheyenne Phillips and Elizabeth King collected 1 hit each. Herron and Adams collected a triple and Adams also had a double at the plate.
The Lady Mt. Lions were scheduled to travel to Elkins Middle to play Tygarts Valley on Monday May 9th for a 1 game Sectional Championship. The winner will move onto Regional Semi-Finals. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
