Second year Head Coach Jake Phillips looks to reap the benefits of having a young team last season. The Tucker County Girls’ Softball look to improve this season as they return some players with experience.
This year’s team has 6 seniors that got action last year and Coach Phillips likes the idea of having more experience saying, “We only graduated 2 seniors from last year’s team, we have 6 seniors this year, the team is a lot more balanced and that gives us a lot me experience back and we think we have a bright season ahead of us”. Players returning from last year that will make an immediate impact are Junior, Melanie Adams, Seniors, Cheyenne Phillips, Lindsey Herron, Mary Pennington and Junior Camryn Cummings and Sophomore Dominque Meadows. The Roster is made up of 4 Juniors, 5 Sophomores and 2 freshman for a total of 17 players. This year’s team is as follows: Seniors, Lindsey Herron, Cheyenne Phillips, Sydney Cangley, Abbey Eye, Mary Pennington and Bethany Barwinczak. Juniors, Melanie Adams, Camryn Cummings, Sophia Ricottilli and Isabella Zais. Sophomore, Dominique Meadows, Allison Zirk, Gabrielle Zais, Elizabeth King and Alexis Thompson. Freshmen, McKinley Murphy and Summer Davis.
When ask about his experience last year as a first year head coach Coach Phillips said, “I learned a lot last season, we learned some things that we did wrong last season and we are implementing those changes and we are seeing success breed from that already this year.”
The schedule this year features 24 games total and 14 of those game will be at home at Camp Kidd Park outside of Parsons.
