On June 23, 2024, Mama Mia’s Pie and Pasta in Canaan Valley hosted a pasta party for Tucker County Special Olympians and their families.

Guest Speaker, Kelly Underwood, a teacher at Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School, gave the athletes words of encouragement and presented each of them with a “Worry Stone.”  She explained that you carry it in your pocked and you can rub it any time you are stressed or nervous and it will help you to relax.

Tracey Elza, Bar Manager, stated, “We wanted to recognize some very special athletes from our county.  All the current Special Olympic Athletes live in the Parsons area…we wanted to let them know that people all over their home county support them and are so very proud of them.  We appreciate them as well as their families.”
