Davis, W.Va. (May 18, 2023) – Featuring live music, chairlift rides, golf, and access to outdoor adventure and unparalleled scenery in the highest mountain valley east of the Rockies, Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-28) at Canaan Valley Resort is the perfect ‘start-of-summer’ getaway for families, couples, or those looking to enjoy the mountains of West Virginia.

“Canaan Valley Resort is the perfect outdoor adventure basecamp to explore the unique wildlife and ecology of the highest mountain valley in the eastern United States,” said Matt Baker, resort general manager. “We’re excited to kick off the summer season with the Mountainside Music Series at the Ski Area on Friday, May 26 and the opening of our pool on Saturday, May 27.”

Occurring outdoors on the Quencher’s Plaza, slope side at the ski area, and free to the public, Canaan Valley Resort’s Mountainside Music Series features live music from 6-9pm every Friday evening throughout the summer (5/26-9/1). Pub fare, as well as local craft brews, are available for purchase at Quencher’s Pub.

Three’s Company Blues will perform on Friday, May 26.  The band started as a fun cover project but has blossomed into much more as they will soon be releasing their first EP, a five-song disc of heavy blues rock, slow blues, and a touch of indie rock. Their influences cover a wide range of genres from Jimi Hendrix to Govt Mule to Vulfpeck.

While on site, or throughout the weekend, guests will enjoy a scenic chairlift ride offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and mountains.

For the golfer, the resort offers the Geoffrey Cornish designed, and European links-inspired, 18-hole championship golf course. For tee times or additional information, contact Canaan Valley Resort’s golf pro shop at (304) 866-4122.

Outdoor games and daily crafts will also be offered throughout the weekend.

For lodging, reservations, or additional information, contact the resort at 800-622-4121 or visit the website at www.canaanresort.com.
