PARSONS – Tucker County Commissioners started out 2016 by electing a president, and Lowell Moore will continue to serve in that capacity another year. Moore was selected for this honor last Monday, and said he will again do his best to serve those in Tucker County.

“I was appointed one more year as President,” Moore said. “This is my second year serving as President. I take that as an honor to have that position. I make no promises but I will work to the best of my ability to serve the residents of Tucker County. I appreciate my fellow Commissioners working with the during the past year and I look forward to all of us working together in the upcoming year to best serve the residents of Tucker.”

During Monday’s meeting, Commissioners approved the holiday schedule set forth by the State of W.Va. and voted to stay on the same boards they had worked with in 2015.

Moore said one change the Commission voted to approve was the hours for their meetings. Commission meetings are on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Tucker County Courthouse Courtroom. He said the times of those meetings is where the change came into play.

“The first meeting of the month will be held at 9 a.m.,” Moore said. “The second meeting will always be at 4 p.m.”

Moore said the second meeting of the month used to alternate from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. depending on the season. Now the time will remain constant at 4 p.m. for the second meeting of the month.

He said two upcoming meetings will also have changes.

“The upcoming meeting set for Jan. 27 will be at 9 a.m. because of some conflicts,” Moore said. “The meeting Feb. 10 will be cancelled because of West Virginia Day at the Legislature. The only Commission meeting for February will be Feb. 17 at 9 a.m.”
