The Tucker County Commission received an update from the Mountaineer Food Bank on the progress of food distribution efforts in the County since representatives last presented an update to the commission in September of 2025. Servondo R Arrendondo III of the Mountaineer Food Bank presented the update to the Tucker County Commission April 8th.
Last year, six mobile food distributions were held in Tucker County. There are plans for six to be held in the County this year as well, Arrendondo, said. 177,000 lbs of food have been distributed in Tucker County, an increase since the Food Bank last updated the Commission in September.
The number of individuals served by the Food Bank has also increased. Arrendondo said that 275 new individuals have been served in Tucker County.
“I don’t know if there has been an influx of new people into Tucker County,” Arrendondo said.
Tucker County Commission President Mike Rosenau said his thoughts were that the need in the County may have increased.
The Mountaineer Food Bank partners with the Blackwater Ministerial Association and First United Methodist Church, who operate pantries in the County.
Later in the year, there are planned distributions in Tucker County on July 8th, September 8th and December 2nd at the Board of Education Office. All distributions begin at 10 a.m.
