The City of Parsons is awaiting an estimate on the cost to clear debris and overgrowth from the banks of the river, according to City of Parsons Manager Michael Simmons.
“We are waiting on a estimate from Cummings Construction for clearing the river banks,” Simmons said.
The estimate will have a price for each side of the river to Walnut Street, according to Simmons.
“They have a special attachment that goes on their excavator. It has 16 foot reach on it. As a matter of fact, they’ve done the biggest portion on down the river with it,” Simmons said.
Simmons informed the Parsons City Council August 5th, that the company assured him that they could do the job at a lower price than their competitor.
Parsons City Council Member Melissa Jones said she suggested that all the property owners be contacted because they owned the property to the middle of the river. Simmons said he has already been in contact with most of the property owners.
“We’ve got a lot of complaints,” Simmons said.
Simmons said that he hoped to have the estimate in time for the Council to discuss and make a decision at the next Council meeting.
