PARSONS – A Parsons man was sentenced to 153 days in jail and given credit for time served recently in Tucker County Magistrate Court. Richard Fike pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to register as a sex offender May 4.

Tucker County Magistrate William “Mont” Miller accepted Fike’s plea and sentenced him to 153 days in jail and gave him credit for time served. Fike was represented by attorney Timothy Gentilozzi.

In Tucker County Circuit Court on May 13, James Waybright, of Parsons, appeared with his attorney Jeremy Cooper. Waybright was indicted on one felony count of sexual assault in the second degree. The criminal complaint said Waybright had intercourse with the alleged victim July 4, 2013 after she told him she did not want to have sex with him.

Tucker County Circuit Court Judge Lynn Nelson set the date for Waybright’s jury trail.

Also in Tucker County Circuit Court Wednesday:

-A hearing for April Miller, of Elkins, was continued until June 11. Miller was indicted on one count of child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of child neglect resulting in death and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The charges stem from an accident in Tucker County Aug 7, 2013. Joshua Lee Watson, 20, of Elkins, a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, all from Elkins, were killed when the Honda Accord they were traveling in went left of center for unknown reasons and was struck by a truck.

-A hearing for Mark Poling, who was charged with sexual abuse in the third degree, was continued until a later date.
