The mural in the Pocket Park in Parsons has made the cover of the West Virginia Rural Water Association’s Mountain State Water Line Magazine Spring 2024 Edition, according to Parsons Water and Waste Water Department Director John “Red” Lipscomb.
According to Lipscomb, there was no real forewarning that the mural was going to be selected for the cover. “They come up one day to take pictures. You see, I’m on the board of Rural Water Directors,” Lipscomb said, “and they just come by to visit us one day when we were working on a sewer line. They were just out taking pictures.”
Lipscomb said the visitors asked about the mural and he filled them in about what he knew of its background. “They published it as the front picture because they thought it was absolutely beautiful,” Lipscomb said.
The Mountain State Water Line Magazine is a quarterly publication published by the West Virginia Rural Water Association.
