Elkins, WV – Julie Phillips, BSN, RN, CIC, System Director of Quality & Risk Assessment for Davis Health System, has been named to the West Virginia Hospital Association’s Quality Committee as Chief Quality Officer.
The WVHA Quality Committee is a committee of the WVHA Board of Trustees and was created by their board in 2013 and is comprised of CEOs, CNOs, CQOs, and CMOs. The committee has done some great work over the years including the Antibiotic Stewardship Collaborative, the EDie project, the WVHA Honors Program, Opioid Guidelines for Emergency Departments and an Opioid Collaborative to name a few.

Appointment to this state-level committee provides the forum for leaders to strategically plan and collaborate on initiatives that advance patient safety and quality of care in healthcare organizations in our state. This works supports the mission of the organization in advancing patient safety and quality care in West Virginia,” says DHS’s Julie Phillips, CQO appointee.
The Committee provides guidance for the advancements in patient safety and quality of care, strategic and policy advice pertaining to significant policy and organization issues, and to provide enhanced statewide quality reporting. Its mission is to advance patient safety and quality care in West Virginia.
Davis Medical CMO, Dr. Catherine “Mindy” Chua states, “We are excited to have Julie serving at the state level representing our organization and helping to improve hospital quality. She brings years of experience as a nurse, an infection preventionist, and a clinical leader to the table. She is going to be an asset to the WVHA.”
