Tucker County boys team get dramatic win over Preston 61-58

HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team hosted Preston last Wednesday December 30th. Tucker County’s Ethan Crosten hit a half-court shot as time expired to break the 58-58 tie to give the Mt. Lions the 61-58 victory.

Tucker County jumped out to an early 8-2 lead and led 19-12 after one quarter of play. Preston battled back in the second as they outscored the Mt. Lions 16-14 to make the halftime score 33-28 Tucker County.

The Knights outpaced the Mt. Lions in the third 16-13 to trim the Tucker County led to 46-44 after three. In the fourth quarter Tucker County led by as many as 11 points, but the Knights never gave up as they took the lead late in the game. A layup by Skyler Humphrey with under 1 minute to play tied the game at 58. Preston missed a shot to take the lead and Tucker County got the ball with 4.7 seconds left in the game. Ethan Crosten then took the inbound pass and dribbled to half-court and let the shot go as time expired and it fell through the basket to give Tucker County the 61-58 win in dramatic fashion.

Ethan Crosten led Tucker County with 23 points, 6 steals and Seth Evans added 17 points, 5 rebounds. Kordell Fulton had 8 points for Tucker County in the win. Preston was led by Jacob Livengood with 14 points. The Mt. Lions JV team picked up the victory also 45-26.

The Mt. Lions(6-0) will host Keyser tonight January 6th and then they will host Notre Dame on Friday January 8th. The January 8th game will feature the Tucker County Girls’ varsity team hosting Notre Dame at 5:45pm with the Boys’ varsity game to follow. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on TuckerCountySports.com and Friday’s Boys’ game will be broadcast on 94.7fm WELK. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
