The Tucker County Family Support Center is seeking the help of local residents. The Center is seeking the help of locals in sharing their experiences and stories with Governor Morrisey’s Office in support of the Center.

“We are grateful to the West Virginia Legislature for recognizing the importance of these services and approving funding for Family Support Centers in the state budget,” the Call to Action states. “Their support demonstrates a commitment to strengthening families and investing in the future of our communities.”

The Tucker County Family Resource Center issued a Call to Action on Friday, June 5th. The reason the Center gave was simple, the future of their funding was uncertain this fiscal year.

“As we move toward a new fiscal year, funding for Family Support Centers remains uncertain,” the Call to Action states. “We want state leaders, specifically Governor Patrick Morrisey, to understand the meaningful impact these programs have on families in every region of West Virginia.”

The Center provides services that “strengthen families, support children, and build healthier communities.” Parenting education, family activities, referrals to community resources, support groups, kinship support and prevention-focused programming are all offered to help families.

“Every day, Family Support Centers help parents build confidence, connect families with resources, reduce isolation, support healthy child development and create opportunities for families to succeed,” the Call to Action states. “These services are preventative, community-based, and designed to strengthen the protective factors that help children and families flourish.”

The Center said they encourage community members, partner organizations and families to contact the Office of Governor Morrisey at 304-558-2000 or contact through the website at governor.wv.gov. They encourage those contacting the office to share why Family Support Centers matter to them, including personal stories and local experiences and ask to renew funding for the center.

“Help demonstrate the value these programs bring to communities throughout the Mountain State,” the Call to Action states. “Together, we can continue building stronger families, stronger communities and stronger West Virginia.”
