CLARKSBURG – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Notre Dame on Tuesday February 1st. Tucker County struggled in the first half, but pulled away in the second half to get the road win 46-37.
Tucker County held a slim lead after one quarter 11-8. The game continued to be close in the second quarter as both teams struggled to score on offense and the Lady Mt. Lions took a slim 19-15 lead into the locker room at the half.
Tucker County started to get some distance between them and their opponent in the third as they outscored the Lady Irish 16-13 in the quarter to make the score 35-28. Tucker County would not relinquish the lead the rest of the game as they outpaced Notre Dame in the fourth 11-9 to get the road victory 46-37.
Sydney Nestor collected a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Elizabeth Nichols added 12 points, 6 blocks and Lydia Mullenax had 8 points and 10 rebounds.
FRANKLIN – Tucker County traveled to Pendleton County on Thursday February 2nd. The Lady Mt. Lions jumped out to a quick start and never looked back as they took home the victory 61-35.
Tucker County controlled the game in the first quarter as they outscored the home standing Lady Wildcats 19-6 after one quarter. The offense continued to roll for Tucker County in the second quarter as they led 35-15 at the half.
The Lady Mt. Lions defense then tightened up in the third as they held Pendleton County to just 4 points and scored 14 points to take a commanding 49-19 advantage after three quarters of play. The reserve players finished the game for Tucker County in the fourth and the Lady Mt. Lions took the road win by the final score of 61-35.
Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 20 points and Elizabeth Nichols added 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 7 assists.
Sydney Moore had 7 points for Tucker County in the win.
HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted Charleston Catholic on Saturday February 6th for an afternoon contest. Tucker County exploded in the second half to get the home victory 45-25.
The home team jumped out to a quick start, but Charleston Catholic fought back late in the quarter at the end of one quarter the score was 12-7 Tucker County. Both teams struggled to shoot the ball in the second quarter and the defense for both teams stepped up. Each team scored just 7 points to make the score 19-14 Tucker at the half.
The Lady Mt. Lions started to get the shots to fall in the third as they outscored the Lady Irish 15-8 in the quarter to extend their lead to 34-22 after the third. Tucker County then stepped up the defense once again in the fourth quarter as they held Charleston Catholic to 3 points in the quarter to pick up the win at home 45-25.
Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Leslie Nestor netted 8 points on the afternoon and Elizabeth Nichols added 6 points in the win for the Lady Mt. Lions.
Tucker County(15-3) will return to action on Thursday February 11th at Petersburg and then on Friday February 12th Tucker County will host Pendleton County for a varsity only game before the Boys’ game at 5:45pm. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
