Tucker County girls fall to Petersburg in overtime at home 56-50

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions Basketball team hosted Petersburg on December 22nd. The Lady Vikings pulled off the road upset in overtime as they handed Tucker County their first loss of the season 56-50.

Tucker County led struggled in the first quarter, but led after one 12-8. The Lady Vikings fought back in the second quarter to outscore the home team 10-5 in the second to take a slim 18-17 lead at the half.

The third quarter was even as both teams continued to struggle on offense as the score was tied at 31 after three. In the fourth quarter Tucker County built a 7 point lead, but Petersburg rallied back to tie the score on a last second shot as the fourth quarter ended with the score at 44-44. In overtime the visiting team gained the momentum and never let it go as they outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 12-6 to pull off the upset over Tucker County 56-50.

Sydney Nestor led the way for Tucker County with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Elizabeth Nichols added 8 points and 9 rebounds for the Lady Mt. Lions in the loss. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team won the first game 54-37.
