Tucker County Sees Record Unemployment

The Tucker County Development Authority has reported Tucker County as maintaining one of the lowest recorded levels of unemployment in 35 years. This marks the highest number of people employed since tracking began 33 years ago, according to the Economic Development Authority.

“This marks a significant milestone for our community and reflects the steady economic progress we’re making together,” The Economic Development Authority said.

Tucker County has had a maintained unemployment rate of 3.3%, according to the Economic Development Authority. Over the year of 2023, the Development Authority released that 3,459 people were employed in Tucker County, the highest number recorded since data tracking began 33 years ago.

According to demographics online, Tucker County has a population of 6,604 as of 2023/2024 with a median age of 51.2 years. The median income for the county stands at $30,882. The largest industries are reported to be tourism, recreation, accommodation, retail and mining.
