Summer is ramping up for our office! We are in full camp mode this week with around eighty youth participating in this year’s Under the Big Top 4-H Camp. Last month we offered several workshops ranging from chainsaw safety and use to starting your own backyard orchard. Keep an eye out for other workshops this summer!
The Taste of Tucker Farmers Market has started! This year’s market times and locations are as followed:
Wednesday – Mill Race Park, 9 a.m to Noon
Friday – Thomas River Front, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday – Courthouse Square, 9 a.m. to Noon
At the market this week you will be able to purchase produce, eggs, breads, and homemade dog treats! A new addition to the Thomas River Front Market is the Farm Up Truck! She makes delicious meals using locally sources ingredients.
The Tucker County Fair is slated for August 22 to August 27 this year. At a recent fair board meeting the decided to bring back the Open Show! The show is scheduled from Friday, August 27 starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be showmanship, beef, and sheep shows at that time. If you are interested in participating in the open show please call the office by August 1 to register.
If there is a particular program you would like to see or a subject you would like more information on please let me know. You can reach the Extension Office at 304-478-2949 ext:209. As always, it is a pleasure to serve Tucker County.
