Alicia Lambert is the new superintendent of Tucker County Schools. Lambert previously served as the principal of Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School. Her predecessor, Dr. Eddie Campbell, accepted a position as Monongalia County’s superintendent.
“To me, there is no greater accomplishment than being able to give back to the school system that gave so much to me as a student, teacher and principal,” Lambert said in a statement.
“I am confident that we can continue to move our school system in the right direction. Through innovation, hard work and collaboration we will ensure that every student achieves their own success and leaves Tucker County Schools prepared for what lies ahead,” Lambert said.
There were 14 applicants for the open superintendent position. The board chose to interview five of the fourteen applicants. Lambert was chosen of the four that went through the interview process.
During the June 18 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the implementation of a Section 125 Plan as an option for school employees.
Tracy Harlan was named the new Dean of Students at Tucker Valley at the meeting. Kathy King and Kathy DiBacco were also approved as substitute teachers for the upcoming school year.
The June 18 meeting was Dr. Campbell’s last meeting as the superintendent of Tucker County school system. “I just wanted to thank the board for the opportunity to serve this community for the last seven years. It has been an incredible opportunity and experience for me. This is a tremendous school system with tremendous employees,” Campbell said.
Treasure Tracy Teets informed the board the school system will receive a check for $99,716 in National Forest land payment. ” It does state in the letter that this is the last payment,” Teets said. “It is unclear whether this is the last payment for this year and the last payment, period. I am going to call to get some clarification on that,” Teets said.
The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at Tucker County High School at 4:30 p.m.
