Blackwater Falls is likely one of the most recognizable attractions in the state of West Virginia.
DAVIS – A new promotional video of Tucker County made its debut Thursday evening at Tip Top Coffee Shop in Thomas. Tucker County CVB Assistant Executive Director Jessica Scowcroft said she is very excited about the four-minute film.

“Last evening at Tip Top we had our world premiere of the video and there was a wonderful turnout,” Scowcroft said Friday. “We are excited to share our county with those who would potentially come to visit.”

Scowcroft said the video features all of the area attractions including cross country skiing, downhill skiing, mountain biking, fishing, tubing and many other activities.

“There are scenes featuring the Tucker County Courthouse, the Leaf Peepers Festival, Run for It, Brew Skies and other events,” Scowcroft said. “We tried to paint a year-around picture of Tucker County to entice folks to come visit the area.”

She said the video also features local artists and art galleries from Tucker County as well as many attractions and businesses. Last year, the Tucker County CVB launched the “Get Tuckered” campaign, and the video supports that campaign.

“Before this video, we did not have any updated viewing of the area and it was overdue,” Scowcroft said. “In this day of technology, everyone enjoys video. We can use this for commercials and other things.”

Scowcroft said the four minute promotional video will be used on the Tucker County CVB website and can be linked to local lodging facilities and other attractions.

“The video will also be utilized at the travel shows we attend,” Scowcroft said. “Our ad agency, Stonewall Marketing, produced this video.”

Scowcroft said she hopes folks will view the video and share it with others to help entice them to visit Tucker County.

“It has been a year-long project and we think it paints a beautiful picture of the area,” Scowcroft said. “We started last winter to capture tubing, cross country skiing and downhill skiing and snowboarding. This summer we did Blackwater Falls, the scenic chairlift rides and then in fall, we captured the leaves. Lots of it was time sensitive to get the seasonal activities the county has to offer.

“Tucker County is definitely a year-round destination with activities for every age group,” Scowcroft said. “The video features children tubing in St. George, beautiful sunsets in the area and many other events. This makes my job easier.”

Scowcroft said she wanted to thank all of the partnering agencies who helped with the video.

“We are excited about the video and hope everyone enjoys it as much as we had putting it together,” she said.

The video, “Take the Tour of Tucker County, WV,” can be viewed at canaanvalley.org.
