2013’s Tucker County Fair Queens; Savannah Ambrose, Jenna White, and Alyssa Hackney
2013’s Tucker County Fair Queens; Savannah Ambrose, Jenna White, and Alyssa Hackney

On Wednesday evening, the Tucker County Fair held its annual Queen’s beauty pageant.  Nine young ladies joined in to compete for three titles, Little Miss Tucker County, Jr. Miss Tucker County, and the title of Queen Daphne.  Traditionally, the chosen Queens will lead and participate in many of the week’s activities at the fair.
The Queen’s pageant this year was made possible in part by the sponsorship of many local businesses, including CJ’s Pizzeria, Photography by Amanda, Beki’s Body Works, Lavish Boutique, Mountain Mist Florist, House of Fashions, Elizabeth Michaels, The Crowning Touch, Debra’s Leather Floral, and Darby Acres.
This year’s pageant was special, as the reigns were passed from longtime director Phyllis Carr to young Courtney Nestor, and her co-director, Miranda Maxwell.   Carr gave the welcoming speech to the crowd, and things got underway with Jordan Leard energizing the crowd with his performance of our National Anthem on the electric guitar.
Soon, the contestants were ready to strut their stuff, to music provided by Joyful Productions.  Three primary segments made up the pageant, with a street wear portion, an evening gown portion, and finally some questions to the ladies to get to know their personalities.  Each participant was announced, came out to make her way across the stage, and was rewarded with applause and support from the crowd.  The evening quickly progressed, with the judges making marks on the girls’ performances to determine who would be chosen to represent Tucker County as Queen.
The decision was made, and the 2012 Queens made their way on stage to present each winner with her crown and sash.  Savannah Ambrose was chosen as this year’s Queen Daphne, and also as this year’s “Miss Congeniality”, Jenna White was selected as Jr. Miss Tucker County, and Alyssa Hackney was chosen as Little Miss Tucker County.  First runner-up in the Queen Daphne division was Rebekah Simmons, with Brandi Hackney taking second runner-up and Tana Smith taking third.  The first runner-up in the Little Miss division was Shelby Beavers, with Autumn Knotts as second runner-up, and Breanna Carr as third this year.
All of the young ladies were congratulated on their performance, and on taking part in the experience of the pageant.  No matter what place they took, all the contestants will surely cherish the memory of their time to shine on stage.
