Tucker County Sheriff B.K. Wilfong has issued a scam warning. Do not give out any information over the telephone unless you are 100 percent sure of who you are talking to. If you have any doubts at all do not give out any information.

The latest scam circulating in Tucker County is someone calling to say the electric bill is past due, to send a money order for a certain amount within 45 minutes to prevent the electricity from being turned off.

Willfong advised all residents to be aware of any utility calls. “Do not give bank information, credit card number or social security number to anyone over the phone. If you receive such a call, report it to the local law enforcement.” Wilfong said.
