PARSONS – Tucker County BOE members were happy to hire some substitute bus operators during Monday’s meeting. Tucker County Superintendent Dr. Eddie Campbell said they were working with Preston County to try and build the substitute bus operator list.
“We are trying to see if there is any overlap,” Campbell said. “Some of their bus drivers living on our borders may want to come over and drive for us as well. They are permitted to be employed as substitute bus operators by both counties. I think we are working with two are three of their bus drivers to get them over here as well.”
“That’s a good plan,” said Tucker BOE member Kevin White.
Also during Monday’s meeting, BOE members took the following actions:
-Voted to approve purchase orders totaling more than $3,000 for Stuart-McMunn Company, CDI, William Dilly, Shaffer Farms, Lynda Bennett, Crook Brothers, Sysco, Alfred Nickles Bakery, Wendlings, Phillips Electric, State Electric, Liberty Distributing, Zaner-Bloser, James and Law, Renaissance Learning and Delta Education.
-Voted to approve agreement letters with Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College, Candace G. Wright MED School Psychologist and Debbie L. Moore, Woodcock-Johnson Examiner.
-Voted to approve the second reading of Tucker County BOE Policies 1100 through 1630.01.
-Voted to approve use of transportation for the Highland Trail Foundation.
Members voted to hire Patricia Thompson and Amanda Kisamore as substitute teachers; David Bennett as bus operator; Donna Bolinger for bus and classroom aide; Roxcella Owens as bus aide/secretary; John Callaway as substitute bus operator; Christopher Adam Snyder as substitute bus operator; Clarence Wilson as substitute custodian; Teresa Simmons as substitute aide Jenny McCrum as substitute aide; Jamie Nestor as substitute aide, cook and secretary; Ashley Wilfong as substitute aide and secretary; Gary Joe Meloy as substitute custodian; and Stephen Andrew Minear as substitute custodian.
Lora Bennett was approved for a transfer to special education aide itinerant at Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School. BOE members voted to accept the resignation of Eric Wamsley as assistant boys basketball coach at TCHS and Chelsi Primavero as cheer coach at Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School.
The first day for staff was Monday, and students return to classes Thursday. The first day for pre-k students is Aug. 17.
The next Tucker BOE meeting is slated for 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Tucker County BOE office.
