PARSONS – The Tucker County Board of Education voted unanimously to hire a testing and professional development coordinator/attendance director during Tuesday’s BOE meeting. Amber Kyle, who previously served as librarian at Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School, will step up to fill the newly created position.
BOE members voted to accept the recommendation, made by Tucker County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Eddie Campbell, to create the new position during its Aug. 4 meeting. The position is a full-time, 210 one at the Central Office.
“We are thrilled to have Mrs. Kyle in this position and cannot wait until tomorrow to have her at the Central Office,” Campbell said.
Other employees hired during the BOE meeting were Chelsi Primavero as art teacher at Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School. This is a half-time position, and Primavero also works in Tucker County Schools as a special education teacher half-time. Clayton Price was hired as a bus operator, and substitute cook, long term substitute positions were filled by Grace Snyder and Crystal Nutter.
Campbell told BOE members the Tucker County High School students were dismissed Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. because of a water main break between Thomas and TCHS.
“Students can return to classes Wednesday,” Campbell said. “There is a boil water advisory, but we can still have school.”
Also during the BOE meeting, members voted to accept a proposal by Asset Control Solutions for additional inventory assistance, and approved a substitute call-out and ACA reporting system through Frontline Technologies. Campbell said the call-out system will include affordable care act reporting. He said this is the system used by Grant County Schools and added it was affordably priced.
The next Tucker County BOE meeting is slated for 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15, and will begin with a work session to set goals for the superintendent.
