HAMBLETON – Everyone is getting ready for Friday’s Homecoming Game against the Philip Barbour Colts. Students continue to celebrate Spirit Week and have made their selections for Homecoming Representatives. This year, the TCHS Homecoming Parade will proceed through Parsons beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The 2016 Homecoming Queen will be crowned during halftime at Friday’s game.
Homecoming Queen Candidates include seniors Autumn Kesner, Leah Underwood and Abigail Zais.
Autumn is the daughter of Neil Dragovich and Christina Kesner. She lives in Canaan Valley and works at Sirianni’s. She is a tech in the TCHS Theater and enjoys playing the flute, watching TV, playing with her little sister Nevaeh, hanging out with her very best friends Hope Roy and Cassandra Allan and spending time with her grandparents in Sugarlands. Following graduation, she plants to attend West Virginia Junior College to pursue a degree in medical office administration. Her escort is Evan Jones, son of Dale and Robin Jones.
Leah Underwood, of Parsons, is the daughter of Jerry and Kelly Underwood. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, TCHS Student Council, National Honor Society and Spirit Club. Leah is the senior class secretary and co-captain of the TCHS Cheer Squad. She is an NCA and UCA All American Cheerleader. In her spare time, Leah enjoys dance, gymnastics and spending time with friends and family. She spends most of her time outdoors. Her future goals include attending West Virginia University to pursue a career in counseling or education. Leah’s escort is Quinn Buckley, son of Scott Buckley and Lesley Nefflen.
Abigail Zais is the daughter of Todd and Samantha Zais. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Community Service. Abigail enjoys hanging with friends, spending time with her family and going on dates with Ryan at Little Andi’s. She wants to study to become a dental hygienist. Abigail’s escort is Ryan Hart, son of Jeremy and Angie Swisher.
Junior Representative is Elizabeth King of Canaan Valley. She is the daughter of Bob and Kathy King. Elizabeth plays softball and likes to draw, and plans to pursue a career in graphic design. Elizabeth’s escort is Donald Davis, son of Jamie Huffman.
Sophomore Representative is Mckinley Murphy of Hambleton. She is the daughter of Stephanie and David Murphy. Mckinley is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Younglife, basketball and softball. She enjoys playing sports and hanging out with friends. After graduation, she plans to become a lawyer or athletic trainer. Mckinley’s escort is Cameron Knotts, son of Terri Roberts and the late Billy Knotts.
Freshman Representative is Maya Paul of Canaan Valley. She is the daughter of Larry and Janelle Paul. Maya is in cross country, softball, student council and the Outdoor Club. Her hobbies include drawing, running, reading and skiing. She plans to attend West Virginia University and pursue a career as a pediatrician. Maya’s escort is Will White, son of Chuck and Becky White.
This year’s Homecoming Week theme was Disney and on Monday, students celebrated Sleeping Beauty Day and wore pajamas; on Tuesday, they dressed like super heroes to celebrate Incredibles’ Day; today they are wearing Hawaiian themed clothes to celebrate O’Hana Day; tomorrow they will celebrate the Wonderful World of Disney Day by wearing something Disney; and Friday, they will celebrate the Greatest Place on Earth – TUCKER – by wearing black and gold.
