PARSONS – The Tucker County 4-H Extension Office has a new smiling face – that of Tucker County 4-H Program Assistant Wendy Wolford.

Wolford, who was hired Aug. 1, said she is excited about working for Tucker County Extension and has been involved in 4-H for a long time.

“I joined 4-H when I was in third-grade,” Wolford said. “I remained a volunteer throughout college. I am very knowledgeable about the program, what we offer and what we do.”

Wolford said in her new position she is getting ready to prepare for Officer Training School.

“New officers will learn what their jobs entail,” Wolford said. “We also are in the middle of our 4-H Club open enrollment. Kids are welcome to come to the Tucker County Extension Office in the basement of the Tucker County Courthouse in Parsons to sign up for 4-H Clubs.”

“Mainly, my job revolves around the 4-H Program and the CEOs,” Wolford said. “I attend the CEOs meetings and am a member of the Clover Run CEOs Club. They have monthly meetings including a craft. They are very active throughout the community and help with 4-H. I am excited to learn more about the CEOs program.”

Wolford said she thinks she brings experience from her past to the 4-H Program.

“I have a great love for the 4-H Program and a great love for the kids in this county,” Wolford said. “I just want them to be successful.”

Wolford said she wants to assure 4-Hers in the community become involved in their community and their county.

“That was important to me as a 4-Her,” Wolford said. “I wasn’t one that was involved in the livestock. I was more community-service based. I want kids to know what they can do to help the community and their county, and how that can pay them back in the future.”

Wolford said currently, there are eight 4-H Clubs in Tucker County with three special interest clubs.

“Our special interest clubs include the Junior Equestrian Club, Shooting Sports and Teen Leaders,” Wolford said.

Additional information about 4-H or the CEOs is available by calling 304-478-2949 ext. 333 or online at wendy.wolford@mail.wvu.edu.
