Allen Daniel Judy, age 82 years, a resident of the Sugarlands Road Community, Parsons, WV departed this life Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2017 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center, with his loving family by his side and under the care of West Virginia Caring.
He was born Tuesday, April 17, 1934 at Leadmine, WV, a son of the late William Dove and Opal Mae Evans Judy. On August 25, 1953 at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Claudette Elaine Nestor, who survives. They had celebrated sixty-three years of marriage.
Also surviving are three children, Allen Daniel “Dan” Judy, Jr. and wife Shiela of Philippi; two daughters, Pam Davis and husband John of Huntsville, AL and Lisa Watring and husband Dr. Dale Watring of Huntsville, AL; one brother, James Judy and wife Dorothy of Parsons; six sisters, Dorothy Johnston of Columbus, OH; Betty Neal of Parsons, WV, Shirley Dennis of Columbus, OH, Janice McDaniel of Parsons, Patricia “Patty” Somerville of Elkins and Wilma Lantz of Parsons; eight grandchildren, Jessica Schneider, Jenifer McCann, Kelsey Jordan, Justin Davis, Issac Davis, Claudia Watring, Seth Watring and Maggie Grace Watring; and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are three brothers, Donald Young, William “Billy” Judy and an infant brother; and two sisters, Jean Butts and Dora Harman.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1952. He made a career in the military serving from 1953 to 1973 and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, SM/Sgt., serving during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Following his retirement from the military, he served as Circuit Clerk of Tucker County from 1974 until 1998. He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post #28 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Mr. Judy’s request for cremation was then be honored. On Monday, January 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. a Graveside service was held at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. Pastor Allen D. Crosten officiated and interment followed. The H. W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Association conducted full military honors. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Leadmine United Methodist Church or West Virginia Caring.
