Alvie Clarence “Neal” Carr, age 74 years, a resident of Montrose, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Monday, June 12, 1939 at Hendricks, WV a son of the late Alvie and Anna Margaret Mick Carr. On June 30, 1969 at Oakland, MD he was married to the former Twila Mae “Tots” Cross Carr, who preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Sue Howell and husband William, of Montrose; Katherine Ann “Kathy” Waybright and husband Troy, of Kerens; one brother, James “June” Carr and wife Shirley, of Hendricks; three sisters, Bessie Louise Wilmoth, of Lebanon, VA; Lula Ellen Friend and husband Terry, of Pinehurst, TX; Rita Sue Oldaker and husband Jim, of Louisa, VA; five grandchildren, Dillon; Samantha; Corey; William “B.J.”; and Douglas; four great grandchildren, Dominic; Adrianna; Jace; and Brooklynn Mae; three step granddaughters, Miranda; Billie Jean; and Ariel; and four step great grandchildren, Desmond; Raven; Conner; and Auora.
Preceding him in death was one grandson, Dustin Lee Waybright.
He attended the Hamrick School at Hendricks, was the owner and operator of Carr’s Construction Company of Montrose for many years, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Elkins. He enjoyed gospel music, hunting, and his loyal companion, “Pepper” the dog.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014. On Friday, at 1 p.m., a funeral service was held with the Rev. Stephen W. Pyle and Pastor David Wilmoth officiating. Interment followed at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
