Anna Marie Ramsey, 59 of Davis, WV died, March 6, 2014. Although Ann, as she was known to her friends, had been ill, death was unexpected.
She was born in Mud Fork, Logan County, WV on October 12, 1954, preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Farmer Ramsey. Ann was a 1973 graduate of Matewan High School, Matewan, WV. She received her BA in Recreational Leadership and Speech Communication in 1994 from Alderson Broaddus College in Phillipi, WV. She also held a WV Master Naturalist Certificate, she was never married.
Ann had a love and passion of debate in college, gardening, the outdoors and tennis, but her proudest time was when she worked at the Humane Society in Elkins where she turned the pound into a non-kill shelter. She was a loyal friend to all her friends and animals. There was no limit to her care and compassion for others. Ann was the one who took in strays that nobody else would and loved them like they were perfect.
Ann was employed with Q & A Associated, Davis, WV as a Mentor at the time of her death. She was the organizations first employee. In the past, Ann worked for Alldredge Academy as a Mentor, a Seasonal Naturalist at Blackwater Falls State Park and a former employee of the Humane Society in Elkins.
She will be deeply missed by her many friends who were her family, the students she mentored and her loving animals that she cherished.
A memorial service will be held at the Alldredge Memorial Garden, riverfront Park in Davis, WV on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Animal Shelter in our area would mean the world to Ann.
