Dice Isaiah Bennett

Dice Isaiah Bennett, age 84 years a resident of Hambleton, WV departed this life Tuesday afternoon, March 11, 2014 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, WV, with his family at his side.

He was born Thursday, March 6, 1930 at Onego, WV, a son of the late Preston and Zettie Catherine Kisamore Bennett. On December 28, 1953 at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Betty Lee Lawrence, who survives. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage.

Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Joan Wood and husband Charlie of Springfield, VA, Pamela Lee Quillen and husband Junior of Webster Springs, WV; five grandchildren, Yvette, Craig, Karla, Jesse Thomas and Jennifer and seven great grandchildren, Alyssa, Quint, Elizabeth “Ellie Mae”, Collin, Emily Rose, Adelynn, and Kenzie Mae .

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death are three brothers, Marshall Woodrow Bennett, Joseph Gilbert Bennett and Quentin Preston Bennett; and five sisters, Virgie Mae Lehman, Grace Florence Price, Mary Margie Wanless, Nancy Nola Golden and Emma Catherine Ray.

He was a graduate of Circleville High School with the class of 1950. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the United States Government for twenty eight years in the Transportation Department. He was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and the Pentecostal Church of God at Hambleton. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the Funeral Home Parlor on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. Pastor JR Mayle and Brother Joe Akers officiated and interment followd at the McNeeley Cemetery at Hendricks, WV, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Association conducted full military honors. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Dice Isaiah Bennett. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
