Arch Wilbur “Junior” Amie, Jr., age 84 years, a resident of the Licking Creek Community, St. George, WV, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 07, 2015 at his home, with his loved ones by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Tuesday, March 30, 1931 at Rockville, WV, Preston, County, a son of the late Arch Wilbur Amie, Sr. and Hilma Jane Waybright Amie. On March 25, 1956 at Baltimore, MD, he was married to the former Rose Luella Cale, who survives. They had celebrated fifty – nine years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Arch Wilbur Amie, III and wife Amy of Licking Creek Rd.; two daughters, Janet Kay Revel and husband Bruce of Pittsville, MD, Diana Rose Burris and husband James of Licking Creek Rd.; one brother Harry L. Amie and wife Juanita B. of OH; two sisters, Lettie Bell Showalter of Thomas, Delphia Snider of Montrose; eight grandchildren, Kenneth J. Lipscomb, Jr. and wife Kristin of Morgantown, David Lipscomb of VA; Rosie Kay Lipscomb of NC, Hilma Parks of Buckhannon, Lisa Dumire and husband Jay of Elgon, James Burris, Jr. and wife Lisa of NC, Kevin Amie and wife Jennifer and Raymond Amie and wife Lindsey, all of Parsons; ten great grandchildren, Cody and Sara Dumire, Ethan, Issac, Aiden and Aubree Lipscomb, Adriana, Colton and Andrew Amie and Kalianna Hoover; and two step grandchildren, Tyler and Kasey Revel.
Preceding him in death are four brothers, Harold Waybright, David Amie, James, Amie, Robert Amie, Sr.; four sisters, Laura Amie, Ettie May Amie, Stella Jones and Rosa Amie.
He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a former employee of American Steel Co. in Baltimore, MD, the Parsons Tannery, and a construction worker of Clarksburg with the Local Union #984. He attended the Sycamore Grove Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, hunting, fishing and camping.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 1 p.m. Rev. Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed at the Mt. State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Association conducted full military honors.
