Bert G. Hedrick, age 82, of Kingsville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born May 22, 1937 on the family’s 200 acre farm in Parsons, WV, and was one of ten children of William F. and Gladys (Sharp) Hedrick. Bert had been an area resident for the last 5 years.

He had worked for Kingsford Charcoal plant as a starch cooker and controller and in prior years had worked for the GM assembly plant in Lordstown, and also was a milkman for Lockie Lee Dairy.

Throughout his life, Bert enjoyed to be outside whether it be hunting or fishing and even an occasional “snipe” hunt. He had a love for woodworking, making picnic tables, drinking coffee and enjoyed his social life while living in Parsons, and spending time by the river on the farm with his siblings.

Survivors include his daughters Karen (Bill) Jepson of Kingsville where Bert made his home while living here in the area, and Denise (Tim) Neal of Martinez, GA; two sons Gregory (Melinda) Hedrick, and Douglas (Nancy) Hedrick, both of Conneaut; step-children Marty and Jeff Hissam; 12 grandchildren, Cody (Nichele), Bryan, Justin (Alyssa), Ryan, Leah (Paul), Corey, Marshall (Rachel), Aly (Paris), Rachel (Ryan), Miranda, Bailey (Alex), Gavin, Kaitlin (Glen), Hannah, Jakob, great-grandchildren, Abigail, Roslyn, Theo and Uma; sisters, Otta Sue Ashby of Parsons, WV, Mary Johanna Nelson of Elkins, WV, and Linda Canfield of Parson, WV; brother Dale (Frances) Hedrick of Reedsville, WV; and his special friend Jody Pence.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents; former wife Elizabeth Hedrick; brothers, Hubert, William “Blair”, Chester, and Johnny Lee Hedrick; and his sisters Gertrude Carr and Annis Dell Combs.

Funeral Service were 11 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH 44030, with Pastor Jan Walsh of New Leaf United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Friends called at the funeral home on Thursday, November 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his caretakers Tammy, Kayla, and Carole.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Bert’s name to the Parsons Lion Club (#10973), 166 Main St., Parsons, WV 26287. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
