Billy Allen Carr, 80, a resident of Hendricks, passed from this life Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Mt. Hospice.

Billy was born Friday, November 17,1944 in Hendricks, a son of the late Glenn Dorman Carr and Mary Jane Hardy Carr.  On January 3, 1970, at First United Methodist in Parsons, he was married to Elaine Faye Davis Carr.  They had celebrated fifty-four years of marriage.

Left to cherish Billy’s memory is a daughter, Madeline Elaine Cale and husband, Scott of Parsons, two brothers, Roger L. Carr and wife, Ruth of Parsons, Homer D. Carr and wife, Kay of Hambleton, a sister, Janet Poling and husband, Bill of Parsons, and several nieces and nephews.   

Preceding Billy in death besides his parents was a brother, Dorman Carr and a sister, Darlene Simmons.

Billy graduated Parsons High School with the Class of 1963 and served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1965 to 1967 where he was an accomplished sharpshooter.  He had been employed for the Parsons Nursery, Kingsford Manufacturing Company, Carl K. Hedrick, Western Maryland Railroad and CSX, and the U.S. Forest Service.  Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping at Gandy and DryFork, gathering mushrooms with his wife and his dog, Mandy and watching Scott fix and repair equipment.  He was a member of the VFW at Harman and the American Legion. Billy had attended the Pentecostal Church of God at Rosendorf.

Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Saturday, December,14, 2024, from 11 am until 1pm, the funeral hour.  Rev. Kevin Hostetler will officiate, and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery where members of H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Tucker County Veterans Association, and WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Billy Allen Carr.  Send online condolences to the family at: www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
