Brenda Joyce Roy Lester

Brenda Joyce Roy Lester, age 73 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV went home to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday January 22, 2022, at Parsons, WV, surrounded by her loving family.  She had been in her usual health and her death was unexpected.  

She was born Sunday, May 16, 1948, at Harman, WV the daughter of the late Carl John Roy, Sr. and the late Gladys Marie Lawrence Roy.  On November 4, 1966, she was married to Aaron Banks Lester, who survives in Hambleton, WV.  They had celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.

She is survived by four children, Gary Dean Lester and wife Shirley of Hambleton, Melony Dawn Lester Flanagan and husband Mike of Hambleton, Diana “DeeDee” Christine Lester Kesecker and husband Mike of Parsons and Aaron Carl Moore and wife Shauntel of Parsons; eight grandchildren, Gary Dean Lester and wife Heather, Katie Marie Lester, Cory Allen Lester, John Michael DelSignore, Jr. and wife Laken, Caleb Brant Flanagan, Collin Michael Flanagan, Justin Seth Crosten and wife Emily, and Alyssa Brooke Parsons and husband Daniel; ten great grandchildren; four brothers, Billy Wayne “Bill” Roy, Gary Michael “Mike” Roy, Robert David “Tim” Roy and Phillip Anthony “Bubba” Roy; one sister, Linda Louise Kelly and husband Jerry; and one sister-in-law, Linda Marie Roy.

Preceding her in death are one brother, Carl John “Butch” Roy, Jr. and one sister, Vickie Lynn Roy Hansford.

She attended Parsons High School with the class of 1965.  She was a Navy wife and got to travel the world and experience many different cultures.  She was recognized, while living in Guam, for her humanitarian effort of resettling the refugees for Indochina.  She was a homemaker.  She was known for her fried rice, homemade bread, lumpia, fried chicken, apple dumplings and strawberry jam.  She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cookouts, family gatherings, and singing with her family.  One of her favorite things to do was sitting on her back porch visiting with family and friends.  Her biggest blessings were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was a member of the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God.  Brenda was the matriarch of her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She leaves behind her prayers and wisdom.  She will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who had the honor of knowing her.  

The family were receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.   On Thursday morning, January 27, 2022, Mrs. Lester was moved to the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God in Hambleton, where final rites were conducted at 11 a.m.   Ordained Minister Joyce Minear with Rivers of Living Waters Ministries in Elkins, WV, officiated and interment followed at the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Brenda Joyce Roy Lester.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
