Charles Stuart “Chipmonk” Carr, Sr.

Charles Stuart “Chipmonk” Carr, Sr., 76, of Thomas, WV passed away peacefully Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born March 28, 1940 in Thomas, WV, a son of the late Willis H. and Sylvia L. (White) Carr. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles S. (Monk) Carr, Jr., one brother, Noah (Tom) Carr and two sisters, Rosalie Ford and Ruth Mercante.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gollihue, his three daughters, Audra Carr, Lori Reynolds, and Heather Carr, step daughters, Misty Prevatte, Crystal Paugh, and Patricia Anderson, one brother, Robert (Barbara) Carr, two sisters, Anne Sutton-Wilson and Glenomia (Ron) Clark, all of Thomas, WV, fifteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Chipmonk was a retired coal miner with thirty five years of dedicated service and a devoted UMWA Local #1444 Member where he served as president for several years. He was one of the founding members of the Mt. Top Hunting club, a member of the Old Stoney Hunting Club, and a member of FOE #936. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing regular card games, and watching old western movies.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home Thursday, January 26, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held, 2:00 PM, Friday, January 27, at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Callaway officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
