Cheryl Annette Miller Shimp, age 51 years, a former resident of Parsons, WV and resident of Canton, GA, departed this life Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee at Canton, GA, surrounded by her family.
She was born Wednesday, September 9, 1964 at Parsons, WV, a daughter of Jack William Miller of Moatsville, WV and Doris Arlene Wolford Miller, who preceded her in death, February 10, 2010. She was married to Nathan Shimp, Jr. who survives at Canton, GA.
Also surviving are one brother, Brian Patrick Booth and wife Chloe of Petersburg, WV, and two sisters, Ellen Yvonne Shaffer and husband Ronnie of St. George, WV and Jonna Lea Miller of Falls Church, VA., and several nephews and nieces. Also preceding her in death are one sister, Rebecca Darlene Miller, a stepfather, Lloyd A. Booth, her paternal grandparents, Jack W. Miller, Sr and Evelyn Ball Zipkin and her maternal grandparents, Austin Barton Wolford and Vallie Crossland Phillips. She was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the Class of 1982. She was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College. She devoted her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse working in Critical Care Units. She enjoyed photography and she had four special cats that filled her life with joy, Belle, Lil’ Dude, Caesar and Romeo.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 1p.m. The Reverend J. Michael Lantz officiated and internment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Cheryl Annette Miller Shimp.
