Clarence Allen “Pete” Sherman

Clarence Allen “Pete” Sherman, 88, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg.

Pete was born on Monday, June 29, 1931, a son of the late Wade Hampton Sherman and Effie Pearl Loar Sherman.

Left to cherish Pete’s memory is three children, Wade Donald Sherman, Tina Louise Lamb and Michelle Ann Lothes, four grandchildren, Joe Harper, Miriah Flynn and husband, Shawn, Nicholas Lothes and wife, Jenny, and Drew Lothes and wife, Taylor, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Marguerite Mullennex, and several nieces and nephews,

Preceding Pete in death besides his parents were seven siblings, Harley, June, Zeke, Sylvia, Ogda, Mary Alice, and Addalea.

Pete was a graduate of Parsons High School and had served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.   He then served with the National Guard for a total of 32 years of military service.  Pete had worked for Sylvania Electric, WV Department of Highways, and D&W Truck Lines until his retirement.  After his retirement, he drove the transport van for the Veterans Administration.  He was a Methodist by faith.  Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking scenic drives, and spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation was held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Monday, July 29, 2019, from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour.  Chaplain Chad Belt will officiate, and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery where members of the H. W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tucker County Veterans Association and the WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Clarence Allen “Pete” Sherman.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
