Thomas Luther Poling, age 78 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Friday morning, July 26, 2019 at Parsons, WV, at his home.  He had been in failing health, however death was unexpected.

He was born Friday, August 16, 1940 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Roy Thomas and Rella Vivian George Poling.  He had never married.

Surviving are one sister, Sharon Vivian Phillips of Parsons; one brother, William Roy Poling and wife Betty of Fla; three nephews, Robert Dale Poling, Jr. of Thomas, David Allen Poling of Mackeyville, and James R. Phillips of Kathleen, Ga; and two nieces, Cheryl Vivian Wratchford  of Palm Bay, Fla, and Roberta Alderman of Parsons; and several cousins.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Robert Dale Poling, Sr.; and one nephew, Edward “Jerry” Phillips, Jr.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1958.   He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills, the former Everett Price Store, a pallet company at Harleysville, PA, the Parsons Tannery and the former A & P Store, until its closing, the Flowers Bread Company until its closing and Family Dollar.   He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Isaac Walton League, where he was an officer for over forty years, where he truly enjoyed his time in the league.   He also was an avid bowler.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 11 a.m.  The Rev. William R. Brown officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery for Thomas Luther Poling.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
