David Eugene Gidley, Sr.

David Eugene Gidley, Sr, age 68 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Wednesday morning, November 18, 2020 at the Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV.  He had been in declining health for the past few months.

He was born Monday, November 10, 1952 at Kingwood, WV, a son of the late Eugene David Gidley and Geraldine Graham Gidley.  He is preceded in death by his longtime companion, Shelbia Jean Dixon.

Surviving are three sons, David E. Gidley, II and companion Kerry Simpson, Christopher B. Gidley, all of Parsons, WV; and Donnie D. Dixon, II and wife Laura of Pickerington, OH; one daughter, Melissa A. Sanders and husband Dewey of Eustis, FL; one brother Douglas Leon Gidley of Albright, WV;  nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two nieces.

He was a graduate of Kingwood High School with the class of 1970 and he was a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in the Radiology Technology Program.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army.   He was a former employee of Preston Memorial Hospital, NIOSH and retired from the VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.     He enjoyed country and gospel music, singing, attending auctions, going to bingo with Shelbia and he loved his dog.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.  Pastor Susie Metzner  officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV., where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker Co. Veterans Assoc. conducted full military honors.  As we continue to follow the CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing were required.   The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for David Eugene Gidley, Sr.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
