David Jack Keister

David jack keister, age 81 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV departed this life late February 1, 2018 at the Davis Medical Center in Elkins, WV.


He was born Sunday, June 21, 1936 at Maryland, a son of the late Roy J. “Dutch” and Margaret Alice Stevens Keister.  On November 10, 2014 at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Carolyn M. Summerfield, who survives.

Surviving are seven children, David Joe, Eva Marie, Barbara Jo, Joyce Ann, Fred Thomas, Margaret Alice and Sarah Lynn; seven step children, Tom, Debby, Eddie, Gerry, Kenny, Cecil and Glenda; one brother, Franklin Roy “Frank” Keister; two sisters, Margaret “Blanche” Zabalbliske and Catherine “Kaye” Nestor; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are four sisters, Carrie Marie Keister, Ruby Virginia Lipscomb, Mary Jane Jones and “Betty June” Keister Jones.

He attended the schools of Tucker County and worked the majority of his life in Maryland as a carpenter, returning to Tucker County during 2010, following his retirement.  He was a member of the Parsons Church of God.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being outdoors.  He was mechanically inclined and was always keeping busy and had a great sense of humor.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11 a.m.  The Rev. David Snyder officiated, and interment followed at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows, Parsons, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for david jack keister.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
