 KettermanDavid

In loving memory of David Wallace Ketterman, 74, of Thomas, WV, and formerly of Akron, OH. David died Sept. 20, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. David was born in Hendricks, WV on January 23, 1941 to the late Stanley and Texie Ann Ketterman. David is survived by his children Lita Gedro, Rhonda Ketterman, Jennifer Broussard, David Wallace Ketterman II, also his sisters, Sue Ann Breedlove and Phyllis Morene Evans. Preceded in Death by his siblings, Dorothy (Dottie Jean) NazelRod, Allen Dale Ketterman, Joycelyn Mae Mellington, Enid Darlene Prokus and Janice Dorene Timm.

David has six grandchildren: Erik Ketterman residing in Knoxville, TN, Arielle Corrigan residing in Utah, Ethan Best, Brendan Best, Lindsay Gedro residing in Virginia Beach & Beaux Broussard of Chesapeake VA.

David was a loving father, uncle, brother and son. David, “Uncle Dave” or “Pop Pop” as we like to call him, was an avid storyteller and history enthusiast and will always be remembered for his outrageous storytelling and history lessons. In March of 1959, David entered the United States NAVY and served our great country for over twenty years. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy in 1980 in Norfolk, VA. He was married to Linda Mae Harris (Ketterman) while serving in the US Navy.

In the US Navy, David received medals of honor: including a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. We will always remember his quick wit, history lessons & raw sense of humor; but most fondly, we will remember his amazing stories and love of music. He was a true entertainer who loved to belt out a song and have everyone join in and sing while playing his guitar.

To you Dad: You will never be forgotten and you are dearly missed.

Services for friends and family of David will be held on Friday, January 22, at 1p.m. at McNeely Cemetery, off Hendricks Hill Road in Hendricks, WV. The family is invited to join us at the Sawmill restaurant at Alpine Lodge at 3:30 p.m. following the service to celebrate David’s life and achievements. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
