Dixie Lee Goff Gutmann

Dixie Lee Goff Gutmann, age 84 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday afternoon, November 24, 2021 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, WV.  She had been in declining health.

She was born Monday, August 9, 1937 at Parsons, WV a daughter of the late Franklin “Frank” and Vallie Virginia Cosner Goff.  On May 30, 1958 at Parsons, WV she was married to Ronald Ludwig Gutmann, who preceded her in death July 22, 2002.  Surviving are one son, Chip Gutmann of Raleigh, NC; one daughter, Erica Lee “Rikki” Mowen and husband David of Charlottesville, VA; one sister, Jerri Lynn Snyder of Elkins; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is one brother, Donald Dale Goff.

She attended the schools of Parsons and was a graduate of Parsons High School.  She attended Commercial Art School at William & Mary University and later attended Davis & Elkins College where she received her degree in Nursing.  Along with her husband, they had lived in Maryland and Africa before returning to Elkins.  She was an Operating Room Registered Nurse at Memorial General Hospital and later at Davis Memorial Hospital until her disability.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served many years on the administrative board and assisted with the Backpack Program.  She was very creative lady with a wonderful sense of humor, who enjoyed quilting, canning and cooking.  She had a great love for the outdoors, enjoyed her plants, gardening and was a Master Gardener.  She enjoyed time at the beach and was always furthering her education.

Dixie’s request for cremation was honored.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Dixie Lee Goff Gutmann.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
