Donna Sue Auvil Bodkin

obit Donna BodkinDonna Sue Auvil Bodkin, age 64 years, a native of Tucker County, and more recently a resident of York, Pa., departed this life Saturday evening, October 19, 2013, at York Hospital in York, Pa., with her family at her side.

She was born April 9, 1949, in Parsons, a daughter of the late Bruce Clark Auvil and Vera Lavena Pifer Auvil, resides in Parsons.  On August 5, 1967, in Parsons, she was married to Tommy Edward Bodkin, who resides in York, Pa.

Left behind are one son, Tommy Edward Bodkin, Jr. and wife Chastity of York, Pa.; one daughter, Rebekah Sue Harlacher and husband Bret and one grandson, Easton Daniel Harlacher, all of East Berlin, Pa.; one brother, Clark Vale Auvil and wife Donna of Elkins; one brother-in-law, John Bodkin and wife Jo; four sister-in-laws, Margaret Howe and husband Dale, Sue Sherman and husband Jim, Margaret Bodkin, and Barbara Auvil and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are one brother, Edward Lynn Auvil and her father and mother-in-law, Odes and Edna Bodkin.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1967.  She was a homemaker, Avon Lady and a former employee of Galt Controls.  She was a member of the York New Salem Fire Department, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed their outings with her daughter.  She attended the Parsons Nazarene Church.  Donna loved to go to Myrtle Beach and on cruises with her husband.  She liked to read, shop, watch cooking shows, collect cookbooks and play bingo.  She liked jewelry, butterflies, flowers, light houses and Alan Jackson.

Donna will be resting high on Limestone Mountain in her home of West Virginia.   As she has left us, lonely in our hearts, God bless her and keep her, till we meet again.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday morning, October 25, 2013 at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Larry Filler  officiated and interment followed at the Limestone Cemetery at St. George, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Donna Sue Auvil Bodkin.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
