DORA MARIAN REEVES JONES

DORA MARIAN REEVES JONES, age 91 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life early Friday morning, March 1, 2019 at Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV.  She had been in declining health.


She was born Friday, May 13, 1927 at Nichols, NY in Tioga County, a daughter of the late John Milton and Marian Louise Wickwire Reeves.  She was twice married.  First to William Harding, who preceded her in death.  On January 2, 1953 at Waverly, PA, she was married to Robert Evans Jones, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Eugene “Danny” Harding and wife Diane of Dahlonega, GA, and Robert E. Jones, Jr. and wife Cathy of St. George, WV; two daughters, Barbara Louise Seymour and husband Dave of Franklin, WV and Mary F. Swisher and husband Steve of Parsons, WV; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Reeves of NY; ten grandchildren, Roger Harding, Andrea Kincaid, Amy Murphy, Timothy W. Owens, II, Carrie L. Owens Munson, Scott Seymour, Andrew Seymour, Stephanie Swisher Gladden, Jeremy D. Swisher and Tara Shields; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Austin, Savannah, Jonah, Olivia, David, Cora, Ella, Lauren, Macie, Ethan, Lena, Lydia, Judah, Josiah, Jeremiah, Joshua, Erin, Colleen, Daniel. Ryan, Evan and Hannah; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are one brother, Buddy Reeves; one sister, Joyce Harding; one great grandson, Seth Lee Owens; and one niece, Patty Harding.

She attended the schools of Tioga.  She was a former employee of the A & P Store in Athens, PA, she was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church of Parsons.  She enjoyed playing bingo, reading magazines, watching the birds and she loved her grandchildren.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m.   Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 1 p.m.   The Reverend Neil Parsons will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Cortland Acres Activities, c/o Marie Grafton, 39 Cortland Acres Lane, Thomas, WV 26292.   The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for DORA MARIAN REEVES JONES.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
