Dottie Anna Williams Knicley

DottieKnicley20160629_0027Dottie Anna Williams Knicley, age 87 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2016 at Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV.
She was born Thursday, August 2, 1928 at Bull Run, St. George, WV, a daughter of the late Ira Hansford Williams, Sr. and Anna Belle Phillips Williams. On November 28, 1945 at Cumberland, MD, she was married to Warren B. Knicley, who preceded her in death May 22, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Knicley Judy and husband James “Jimmy” of Parsons, WV and Rebecca Knicley Pennington and husband Richard “Rick” of Fredericksburg, VA; four grandchildren, David Lee Judy, Rebecca Lynn Judy Boyers, Warren Douglas Judy and wife Sarah, and Rachel Corinne Pennington; five great grandchildren, Danielle Judy Zulauf and husband Wade, James Douglas Judy and wife Katie, Elizabeth Ann Boyers Roberts and husband Frank and Melinda Lou Boyers Mauzy and husband Tyler and Marissa Judy and Cameron Judy; and four great great grandchildren, Juniper, Lucy, Oren and Nora.
Preceding her in death are one daughter, Linda Lou Knicley; six brothers, Virgil, Cecil, Denver, Ira, Hoy and Roy Williams; three sisters, Dakota Howdyshell, Madeline Zinn, and Mary Hester Williams Frey; and one adopted sister, Mildred Collette.
She attended the schools of Grafton. She, along with her husband owned and operated the Knicley’s Hardware Store until the flood of 1985, and following the flood, they opened the DK’s Craft Workshop until retiring in 1996. She was a member of the CEOS “Homemakers” and a member of the Riverview Chapel Church at Porterwood, WV. She enjoyed crafts and was very creative. Dottie was always helping out with babysitting and she enjoyed spending time with her family.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. The Reverend James Snyder officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Dottie Anna Williams Knicley. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
